If your engineering firm is just starting, begin with Onboarding your firm: what is ready on day one, the setup to do first, and how workflows built around your kind of work are added.

How the three fit together

A project is passed between a client company and its engineering firm. Each guide covers one side of that hand-off.

  1. The client starts a project. A field inspector records the inspection on site, or the office enters it. See Complete an intake and Submit a new project.
  2. The engineering firm reviews it. It approves the intake, or pushes it back with a reason for the client to fix. See Intake and triage.
  3. The firm designs it and sends the report. See Design and Getting your report.
  4. If the job needs an inspection, the client supplies the construction details and the firm verifies them. See Inspection details and Inspections.

Both sides can write comments on a project. Each side can also keep notes the other never sees.
